The MD 1245b: Händle‘s big new double-shaft mixer for high throughput and intensive

mixing.

This double-shaft mixer is a “workhorse” for clayceramic preparation and a
universal machine for mixing, opening up, moistening and kneading. HÄNDLE has
been building this kind of machine and keeping it in line with the latest state of the art since 1922. HÄNDLE‘s current line of double-shaft mixers encompasses four model sizes, with the big new MD 1245b as the largest.

With a mixing trough width of 1200 mm and a mixing trough length of 4500 mm, these mixers are designed for high throughput (up to 70 m3/h) and high mixing quality, the latter being partly due to the material spending such a long time in the extra-long mixing zone. The blades on the contra-rotating mixer shafts are arranged to intermesh and achieve very intensive, thorough kneading via radial
and axial interaction of the motional axes. This effect can be intensified with
the aid of fixed knives, and both the mixing quality and the throughput rate can be adjusted by altering the mixing blades‘ angle of inclination, particularly in combination with speed control.

This double-shaft mixer owes its longevity and ease of maintenance to such features as a hard-wearing inner lining for the mixing trough, protective sleeves on the mixing-zone shaft sections, and removable, hard-wearing faces on the knives/blades. The paired mixing shafts are electrically powered, with a V-belt drive, planetary gearing and a spur transfer gear. This double-shaft mixer comes ready mounted on a base frame with motor mount and, if so desired and optional side catwalk.

Various other options, such as moisture control, make it possible to customerize
these double-shaft mixers for any individual set of requirements.
